Welcome to the practice of Dr. W. James Leahey, a dedicated Consultant Adult General Psychiatrist providing compassionate, evidence-based care for adults aged 18–65 in Melbourne, Victoria.
About Dr. Leahey
Dr. James Leahey graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Science (1989) and Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery with Honours (1993). He completed a Master of Medicine (Psychiatry) at the University of Melbourne in 2003.
He has been a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) since 2003 and is a foundation Fellow of the College’s Faculty of Forensic Psychiatry.
At St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, he serves as Clinical Director of the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Service (CATS), Psychiatric Triage, Emergency Department Mental Health, PACER, and HOPE service.

Comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and ongoing management for adults, grounded in evidence-based practice and delivered with care.
Regarding ADHD
Dr. Leahey does not routinely assess or treat ADHD, nor prescribe stimulant medications. If you have ADHD concerns, please discuss with your GP and seek referral to a psychiatrist who specialises in adult ADHD assessment.
